What anxiety actually is
Most people experience anxiety as something that lives in the body — a tightness in the chest, a restlessness that won't settle, a loop of thoughts that won't stop. They know it's uncomfortable. They know it's affecting their sleep, their relationships, their ability to simply be present. What they don't always know is why.
From a subconscious perspective, anxiety is not a malfunction. It is a message. Sometimes the subconscious is replaying an old danger signal that was never turned off — an alarm that fired during a past event and was never given permission to stop. Sometimes the body is carrying an emotional burden that the conscious mind has long since decided it has “moved on” from. And sometimes, the soul itself is asking for attention — pointing toward something that needs to be seen, understood, and released.
In our experience working with clients, all of these can be true — and which one is operating depends entirely on the person. That is why no two sessions are alike, and why a scripted approach to anxiety will only take you so far.
“Anxiety is worry about the future. But its roots almost always live in the past — in something that was never fully resolved, still running in the background.”
— Jose Montanez, C.IHt · Soul HypnotherapyWhy traditional approaches often aren't enough
We are not here to dismiss medication or traditional therapy. Both can be valuable, and for many people they provide real relief. However, there is an important distinction worth understanding.
Medication manages the symptom. We look for what's causing it. A medication that reduces anxiety is doing something real — it is changing the chemical environment in the brain and body so that the alarm signal is quieter. But the underlying source of that alarm — the unresolved wound, the subconscious belief, the trapped emotion — remains untouched. Moreover, when the medication stops, the anxiety often returns. Sometimes stronger.
Similarly, traditional talk therapy works primarily at the conscious level. It helps you understand your patterns, identify your triggers, develop coping strategies. These are genuinely useful tools. But for many people, understanding the problem is not enough to release it — because the root isn't in the conscious mind. It is stored in the subconscious, often from experiences so old or so overwhelming that the conscious mind never fully processed them.
This is where Introspective Hypnosis goes. Specifically, it works at the level where anxiety actually lives.
How Introspective Hypnosis approaches anxiety
Introspective Hypnosis was developed by Aurelio Mejía and is taught by Antonio Sangio — one of its foremost practitioners worldwide. Jose Montanez trained and certified directly under Antonio Sangio, and uses this method with clients in North Griffin, GA and worldwide via Zoom.
In a session, the client is guided into a deeply relaxed state — not unconscious, not out of control, but deeply calm and inwardly focused. In that state, the subconscious becomes accessible. We work together to find what is stored there: the root of the anxiety, whatever form it takes. We address it with compassion, with forgiveness where needed, and release it.
The client does all the inner work. We are the facilitator — the guide who holds the space and walks alongside them through the process. This is a fundamental principle of the method: the answers are not outside you. They are already within you. Our role is simply to help you find them.
What we address in a session
- Chronic anxiety and persistent worry that won't respond to conscious effort
- Panic attacks and acute anxiety episodes
- Social anxiety and fear of judgment
- Anxiety rooted in past trauma or childhood experience
- Anxiety alongside grief, loss, or major life transitions
- Physical symptoms of anxiety — tension, insomnia, digestive issues
- Anxiety that has persisted despite years of therapy or medication
What clients say after their session
The most common thing we hear from clients after a session for anxiety — the thing that surprises even them — is that they feel lighter than they have in years. Sometimes decades.
Not because the session was easy. In many cases, it wasn't. Reaching the root of anxiety often means visiting something the client hasn't been willing to look at directly. But because when the root is finally seen and released — the weight that came with it lifts. Not gradually. Often, immediately.
Furthermore, many clients describe feeling calm and in control in a way they didn't expect — not because we told them to feel that way, but because the source of the dysregulation has been addressed. The alarm that was running in the background has finally been turned off.
“Medication manages the symptom. We look for what's causing it. The difference is not just in the approach — it is in what becomes possible afterward.”
— Jose Montanez, C.IHt · Soul HypnotherapyOften, one session is enough
We understand this sounds like a significant claim. Years of anxiety, sometimes managed with daily medication or ongoing therapy — and one session could make a meaningful difference?
In our experience, yes — frequently. Not because the session is magic, but because it is going somewhere that nothing else has gone. When the root cause is identified and released in a single session, the anxiety that was downstream of that cause can lift significantly. Some clients require two or three sessions for deeper or more layered issues. Jose will give you an honest assessment in your first session.
Sessions in English and Spanish
We offer fully bilingual sessions — completely in English or completely in Spanish, with no switching between languages. For many clients in our community, healing in Spanish is not just a preference. It is a necessity. The subconscious stores its earliest memories in the language they were formed in — and when we work in that language, the connection is deeper, the access is more direct, and the healing is more complete.
In-person in North Griffin, GA — and worldwide via Zoom
We see clients in-person at our North Griffin, GA office — serving the greater Atlanta area, Spalding County, McDonough, Locust Grove, Jackson, and surrounding communities. Additionally, we offer online sessions via Zoom for clients anywhere in the world. In the spiritual realm there is no time or space — distance is not a barrier to healing. If anything, many clients find they relax more deeply in their own space.
